South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance Announces 2022 Woman of the Year

(Columbia, South Carolina) –Jann Moore, Manager of State Government Affairs for the Southeast Region for Caterpillar Inc., was today named the 2022 South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA) Woman of the Year at a virtual awards presentation held during the 4th Annual Palmetto Women’s Manufacturing Forum hosted by the SCMA.

The award was created to honor an outstanding leader for her contributions to the state’s manufacturing industry. Previous awardees include Lou Kennedy, CEO & Owner of Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation; Sky Foster, Communications Manager at BMW Manufacturing Co. (Retired); Barbara Melvin, Chief Operating Officer at the South Carolina State Ports Authority.

“Jann’s dedication and efforts to strengthen and advance the manufacturing industry has made a positive impact on our state and nation,” said Sara Hazzard, President and CEO of the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance. “Her remarkable career is a shining example of excellence, leadership, and the impact women in manufacturing can have. We are thrilled to present Jann with the 2022 SCMA Woman of the Year Award.”

Jann Moore joined Caterpillar, Inc. in 2013 as the Manager of State Government Affairs for the Southeast Region. She is responsible for representing Caterpillar’s interests on state legislative and regulatory issues before multiple state legislatures and administrative officials in the southeastern region. Jann has more than 30 years of business and issue advocacy and government relations experience at the local, county, state, and federal levels.

“I am honored to have been chosen for this award by one of the premier manufacturing associations in the country. SCMA works hard each day to represent manufacturing interests by addressing issues that help manufacturers compete, not just regionally but globally,” said Moore. “They recognize that an important part of success is access to a talented and diverse workforce in which women play a critical role.”

In addition to honoring the important role female industry leaders have in the Palmetto State, Megan Pollock, Senior Director of Strategic Communications for Samsung Electronics America provided the keynote address and attendees participated in a panel discussion to learn more about career opportunities and leadership tracks for women in manufacturing.
