SCMA supports pro-business South Carolina political candidates. Manufacturers are encouraged to contribute to the SCMA Good Government Fund, a political action program designed to support candidates who recognize the value manufacturing brings to our state.

WHAT IS A PAC?

A political action committee (PAC) raises money and makes contributions to campaigns to support the election of candidates for political office. The SCMA Good Government Fund is organized as a state-level PAC and only contributes to state races.

WHAT IS THE MISSION OF THE SCMA GOOD GOVERNMENT FUND?

To support South Carolina candidates who will advance policy priorities essential to advancing the state’s manufacturing industry. The SCMA Good Government Fund is non-partisan and actively supports candidates of both political parties.

WHO RUNS THE SCMA GOOD GOVERNMENT FUND?

The SCMA Executive Committee runs the SCMA Good Government Fund. In adherence with South Carolina state law, the SCMA’s registered lobbyists neither solicit donations nor influence the distribution of the PAC. SCMA staff handles administrative duties for the PAC.

HOW MUCH MAY I CONTRIBUTE?

Due to recent court decisions, there are no limits on what individuals and corporations may contribute to a PAC in a calendar year in South Carolina. You may contribute to the PAC with personal or business funds (this is different from federal PACs). Contributions over $100 will be reported to the SC Ethics Commission in the quarter in which they were received in order to remain transparent and in line with previous disclosure laws governing PACs.
