(Columbia, South Carolina) – The South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA) released the following statement from its President and CEO, Sara Hazzard, regarding South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster’s nomination of Harry Lightsey as South Carolina Department of Commerce Secretary.
“Manufacturing plays a critical role in South Carolina’s economy, and Mr. Lightsey’s background in emerging technologies and innovation and experience with globally recognized companies positions him to build on the legacy of manufacturing strength in our state. We look forward to working with Mr. Lightsey to ensure South Carolina remains the best place for manufacturers to do business and applaud Governor Henry McMaster on his selection of a champion for our state’s future success.
We wish outgoing Secretary Bobby Hitt all the best in his well-deserved retirement. The manufacturing industry in South Carolina is stronger because of Secretary Hitt’s service to our state. Secretary Hitt leaves a lasting impact, not only through his leadership at the South Carolina Department of Commerce, but through his participation in many industry and community organizations, including serving as the Chairman of the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance.”
